Ready to grow? 🌿 Here’s Your ‘Get Started’ Plan 🌿

Based On Your Responses
Your best FIRST hire is Technical Support
Your business is growing and thriving – and you’re no stranger to putting in the work. That’s no small feat!
While you're amazing at what you do, tech-related tasks aren't really your cup of tea. You need help with the complex and overwhelming technical side of business.
You’re done doing all the work yourself – you want and need help!
That’s why it’s time for you to hire someone to help you navigate and set up software, troubleshoot tech difficulties, and maximize your tech investments. You know it’s vital to the continued growth and success of your business and you’re ready to take action.
When you get these tasks off your plate, you’ll be able to focus more of your time on the things you do best, the ones that light you up and bring you joy, and those that are going to drive forward the mission of your business and your life. Not to mention, you’ll have more time to relax – because that 24/7 hustle lifestyle is so 2016.
Get the freedom you desire, the help you deserve, and the business of your dreams by hiring a Technical Support professional!

Why is hiring the RIGHT help so important?
🚨 Unpopular Opinion Alert 🚨
I like to march to the beat of my own drum. This often means that my views on hiring and leading teams goes against what many others say and believe.
You shouldn’t be hiring people to help you do more just for the sake of doing more. There are no prizes for doing the most in business or in life.
(Read that 👆 again!)
While hiring will absolutely allow you to expand your capacity, when you hire the right help you will also be able to:
Be more creative and innovative
Work on higher-level projects and tasks
Do better quality work (because you’re not doing #allthethings yourself)
Provide a better customer experience and care
Take quality time away from your business
Create amazing job opportunities for others
Have a greater impact in the world
And so much more
But in order to experience all of these wonderful things for yourself and your business, you have to hire the right help at the right time – not just any ol’ warm body!
Now that you know why hiring the right help is so important, let’s talk about HOW.
Your ‘Get Started’ Plan:
Where you’ll go from feeling overwhelmed to overjoyed, and the path to a thriving team becomes your reality!

Step 1
Contractor or Employee, which should you hire?
Every business operates differently and the type of worker you need (and should legally hire) will be based on the position you're hiring for and the work that person will be asked to do.
That’s where the concept of “Degree of Control” comes in handy!
Degree of Control simply means how much say (or control) your business will have over the individual you plan to hire, including:
What kind of work they’ll be doing,
How they’ll be doing the work,
What tools they’ll be using, and
When they’ll be doing the work.
The more control you will have or wish to have over each of these areas, the more likely you will need to hire and classify your worker as an employee.

Step 2
Take The Payroll Challenge
Having team members on payroll is one of the most exciting and terrifying things you will experience as a business owner. Build your confidence by taking our Payroll Challenge! Here’s how:
Set up a separate bank account for employee payroll.
Determine how much you can afford to pay in wages every other week (and be sure you’re budgeting for fair and equitable wages!).
Transfer that amount into your payroll account every other week as if you're "running payroll" for the next 3 months.
At the end of 3 months, ask yourself the following questions:
Did I have to skip any payments due to cash flow issues?
Did I have to dip into the payroll account to cover expenses?
Was I able to continue paying myself my regular wages?
If the answers to those questions were: No, No, and Yes, then chances are high that you're financially ready to hire your first employee with confidence!
[Bonus Tip: When you hire your first employee, pay their wages from the money that's coming into your business since you already know you can afford it. Then, keep the money you saved over the past 3 months as a safety net to ensure you can always cover payroll, even during slow times!]
If you have different responses to any of the questions, it's a good time to assess your business finances and goals. Schedule a meeting with your CPA or trusted financial advisor to help you make a solid plan.

Step 3
Decide What To Delegate
Now that you have the basics outlined, let’s get really clear on the kind of tasks you’re going to be delegating once you hire your dream team member! Without taking the time to get clear now, you’ll have a harder time finding the right person to hire and getting them off to a great start.
Here are a few things to consider:
First, identify the tasks you need to get off your plate, such as tasks you:
Struggle doing or completing,
Dislike, dread, or procrastinate, and
Take you too long or you spend too much time on.
Second, determine whether these tasks make sense together.
A common mistake many business owners make when hiring is trying to hire one person to do everything by cramming too many dissimilar tasks into one role and looking for the elusive “unicorn employee.”
The reality is that unicorns don’t exist (I know, womp womp).
The person who is amazing at being organized and attentive to detail may not be the most creative, out of the box thinker or the most engaging and dynamic speaker. And that’s okay!
All these skill sets are important and play vital roles in our businesses at different times. As leaders, we must learn to identify our true needs and then fill those needs strategically.
Taking the unicorn approach will often leave you feeling frustrated, desperate, and no closer to finding your ideal team member. Not to mention, this will set unrealistic expectations and put unnecessary pressure on your new hire to be perfect.
Focus on hiring the right person with the right skill set to do the right tasks in your business at the right time and your business and team will both thrive!!
